Sky-blue aster is a common aster of dry prairies, mesic prairies, sand barrens, rocky or gravelly slopes, and oak or pine savannas and woodlands. This blue, heart-leaved aster is distinguished by its sandpapery leaf texture and lack of leaf teeth. It readily re-seeds, especially on well-drained, sandy loam soil. It continues to bloom after frost.
